The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a clarification regarding reports of a “Rickroll” QR code appearing in connection with the Class 12 Mathematics board examination.
In an official statement, the board said that the security of the question paper remains uncompromised and that the matter circulating online does not indicate any breach of the examination system.
The clarification came after social media posts suggested that a QR code linked to the exam content directed users to an unrelated video commonly associated with the internet meme known as “Rickroll.”
Board Says Paper Security Was Not Affected
According to CBSE, the incident does not reflect any compromise in the confidentiality or integrity of the question paper. The board emphasized that the established protocols used to secure examination materials continue to function as intended.
CBSE said its examination process includes multiple safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access or leaks of question papers before the scheduled examination time.
Social Media Reports Prompt Clarification
The issue gained attention after several posts on social media platforms claimed that scanning a QR code related to the Class 12 Mathematics paper led to an unrelated online video rather than academic content.
Following these claims, CBSE issued a clarification to address concerns among students, parents, and schools regarding the authenticity and security of the exam paper.
Exams Continue Under Standard Protocols
The board reiterated that its examination system follows strict procedures for the printing, distribution, and handling of question papers across examination centers.
CBSE also indicated that the ongoing board examination process continues under established security measures.
The Class 12 board examinations conducted by CBSE are attended by students across thousands of schools in India and abroad each year, making them one of the largest school-level examination systems in the country.
