Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accepted the Left Democratic Front’s defeat in the Assembly elections, calling the verdict unexpected while promising that the alliance will rebuild and return stronger as an Opposition force.

In a detailed statement issued after the election results, the veteran CPI(M) leader congratulated the United Democratic Front (UDF) for securing victory and said the LDF would function as a constructive and vigilant Opposition focused on protecting secular values, democracy and public welfare in the state.
