Punjab School Education Board announces Class 12 results with three students achieving full marks across Science and Humanities streams
The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Tuesday declared the Class 12 board examination results, with three girl students creating a rare academic record by scoring a perfect 500 out of 500 marks. The results also reflected strong overall performance across streams, with the state registering a pass percentage of 91.46 per cent.
The announcement marks a significant moment for Punjab’s school education system, particularly as students from different districts and streams secured top positions with flawless scores. The toppers were from both Science and Humanities streams, highlighting balanced academic excellence across disciplines.
Three Students Achieve Perfect Scores
Among the top performers was Supneet Kaur from Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School in Ubbha, Mansa, who topped the Science stream with a complete score of 500 marks.
In the Humanities stream, Suhani Chauhan of BCM Senior Secondary School in Jamalpur Colony, Ludhiana, also secured 500 out of 500 marks. Another Humanities student, Divanshi from Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Shimlapuri, Ludhiana, matched the achievement with a perfect score.
According to officials, all three toppers are also active sportspersons, making their accomplishment notable beyond academics alone. Their performance reflects the increasing emphasis on balancing education with extracurricular activities in schools across Punjab.
Overall Pass Percentage Crosses 91%
This year, a total of 2,65,417 students appeared for the PSEB Class 12 examinations. Out of them, 2,42,755 students successfully cleared the exams.
The overall pass percentage stood at 91.46 per cent, indicating a strong performance by students across the state. Education officials noted that the results showed consistency in academic outcomes despite increasing competition and examination standards.
The results are particularly important for students seeking admission into undergraduate courses, professional programs, and competitive entrance examinations. Class 12 marks continue to play a major role in college admissions and scholarship opportunities in India.
Commerce Stream Records Highest Success Rate
Among all streams, Commerce registered the highest pass percentage this year. Out of 34,496 students who appeared in the Commerce stream, 34,074 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 98.78 per cent.
Education experts say the continued high performance in Commerce reflects growing student interest in business studies, finance, accountancy, and professional career paths such as chartered accountancy, banking, and management.
The Science stream also reported impressive results. A total of 55,593 students passed out of 56,456 candidates, taking the pass percentage to 98.47 per cent.
The strong Science performance comes at a time when more students are pursuing engineering, medicine, information technology, and research-oriented careers. Schools across Punjab have also been increasing focus on laboratory learning, digital education tools, and competitive exam preparation.
Humanities and Vocational Streams Show Steady Results
The Humanities stream, which had the highest number of candidates, recorded a pass percentage of 87.74 per cent. Out of 1,65,457 students who appeared in the examination, 1,45,179 cleared it successfully.
Although the pass percentage in Humanities was lower compared to Commerce and Science, education observers noted that the stream covers a wider and more diverse student population. Humanities remains one of the largest academic streams in Punjab due to its accessibility and broad career options, including civil services, journalism, law, social sciences, education, and public administration.
The Vocational stream also posted stable results, with 7,909 students passing out of 9,008 candidates. The pass percentage in the stream stood at 87.80 per cent.
Vocational education has gained attention in recent years as governments and educational institutions push for skill-based learning. Courses under vocational education often focus on employability, technical training, and industry-linked skills.
Education Minister Credits Reforms and Teachers
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains congratulated students, teachers, and parents following the announcement of the results.
The minister stated that the strong performance reflected the hard work of students and the efforts made by teachers across the state. He also linked the outcome to reforms introduced under the government led by Bhagwant Mann.
According to Bains, multiple students achieving perfect scores in different streams was a matter of pride for Punjab’s education system. He said the results indicated positive developments in government and private schools alike.
Over the past few years, the Punjab government has announced several initiatives aimed at improving school infrastructure, teacher training, classroom facilities, and digital learning access. Education reforms have increasingly focused on strengthening foundational learning while also improving board examination performance.

Why the Results Matter
The PSEB Class 12 examinations are among the most important academic milestones for students in Punjab. The results determine eligibility for higher education admissions in universities and colleges across India.
For students aiming to pursue professional courses such as engineering, medicine, law, commerce, and management, Class 12 marks remain a major factor alongside entrance examination scores.
The achievement of three students securing full marks also highlights changing academic trends in state board education. Perfect scores are relatively rare in board examinations due to strict evaluation standards and subject diversity.
Education analysts say such performances may encourage other students in Punjab to aim for higher academic goals. At the same time, experts caution that academic scores should not be viewed as the only indicator of student capability, stressing the importance of overall development, skills, and mental well-being.
Growing Focus on Girls’ Education
The dominance of girl students among the toppers also reflects broader trends in school education across India, where female students have consistently recorded strong board examination performances in recent years.
Educational institutions and policymakers have increasingly highlighted girls’ education as a major priority, especially in states working to improve literacy rates and higher education participation.
In Punjab, both government and private schools have been promoting initiatives related to student safety, sports participation, scholarships, and academic support for girls. The success of the three toppers is likely to be viewed as an encouraging sign for continued participation of female students in higher education and competitive careers.
Sports and Academics Together
One notable aspect of this year’s toppers is their involvement in sports alongside academics. Balancing sports training with board examination preparation is often considered challenging due to time commitments and physical demands.
Education professionals say students participating in sports frequently develop discipline, focus, and time management skills that also help academically. Schools across Punjab have increasingly been encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities rather than focusing solely on examination performance.
The achievement of the three toppers may further strengthen conversations around holistic education, where academic success is combined with physical development and extracurricular engagement.
Digital Access and Result Availability
Like previous years, the Punjab School Education Board made the Class 12 results available online to ensure easier access for students across districts.
Digital result systems have become increasingly important in reducing delays and helping students quickly apply for admissions and counselling processes after board examinations. Schools and education departments have also been using online platforms to streamline verification and documentation procedures.
Students who have passed the examinations are expected to begin applying for undergraduate admissions in the coming weeks as universities and colleges open their application processes for the new academic session.
With strong overall results and record-breaking performances by students, this year’s PSEB Class 12 outcome is likely to remain a major talking point in Punjab’s education sector, particularly for the growing emphasis on academic excellence, girls’ education, and balanced student development.
