On July 8, 2025, OnePlus unveiled the Nord CE 5 at its Summer Launch Event in India, positioning it as a compelling mid-range smartphone that blends flagship-level features with an affordable price tag. Priced starting at ₹24,999, the Nord CE 5 aims to capture the attention of budget-conscious buyers seeking performance, style, and longevity. With a sleek design, a massive battery, and a capable processor, this device is generating buzz as a strong contender in the competitive mid-range market.

Launch Details and Pricing

The OnePlus Nord CE 5 hit the Indian market with three storage variants: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage at ₹24,999, 8GB RAM + 256GB at ₹26,999, and 12GB RAM + 256GB at ₹28,999. Available in Nexus Blue, Marble Sands, and Phantom Grey, the phone went on sale via Amazon, OnePlus India’s official website, and select offline stores starting July 12, 2025. Buyers can also snag a ₹2,250 instant discount with select bank cards, making it an even sweeter deal.

Design and Display

source

The Nord CE 5 sports a minimalist, modern design with a matte finish and a vertical, pill-shaped camera module that echoes premium aesthetics, drawing comparisons to the iPhone 16’s Ultramarine color in its Nexus Blue variant. Its 6.77-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate delivers vibrant colors and smooth scrolling, ideal for gaming, streaming, and everyday use. The screen hits a peak brightness of 1400 nits, ensuring visibility even in bright sunlight. A pre-applied screen protector and an included TPU case add practical value.

Performance and Software

source

Under the hood, the Nord CE 5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex chipset, built on a 4nm architecture, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of storage. This setup ensures smooth multitasking, gaming at up to 120fps, and efficient handling of demanding apps. The phone features a 7,041mm² CryoVelocity vapor chamber for thermal management, keeping it cool during intense sessions. Running Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 out of the box, it offers a clean, bloat-free interface with OnePlus’ new AI features, including smart photo enhancements. OnePlus also promises six years of Android and security updates, a rare commitment in this price segment.

Camera Capabilities

Photography is a highlight of the Nord CE 5, featuring a dual-camera system on the rear with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 116-degree field of view. The setup supports 4K video recording at 60fps, delivering crisp and stable footage. A 16MP front camera handles selfies and video calls, with improved processing for sharper, more detailed shots. While not a flagship camera, the Nord CE 5’s system is competitive for its price, catering to social media enthusiasts and casual photographers.

Battery and Charging

source

The Nord CE 5 boasts a massive 7,100mAh battery, one of the largest in its class, ensuring up to two days of usage under normal conditions. Paired with 80W SUPERVOOC charging, it can reach a full charge in roughly 30 minutes, and bypass charging reduces heat during plugged-in use. The inclusion of an 80W charger in the box is a welcome touch, especially as many competitors have phased out in-box chargers.

Standout Features and Market Position

Unlike its pricier sibling, the Nord 5, the Nord CE 5 skips the iconic OnePlus alert slider, replacing it with a programmable Plus Key for quick access to AI tools and customizations. Its plastic back helps keep costs down but may feel less premium than the glass-backed Nord 5. Still, the Nord CE 5’s combination of a vibrant display, robust battery life, and long-term software support makes it a standout in the sub-₹30,000 segment.

Also received the OnePlus Nord CE 5—here's a hands-on image along with the box contents.

Why It Matters

The Nord CE 5 enters a crowded mid-range market where brands like Vivo, Xiaomi, and Samsung are vying for dominance. By offering a large battery, a capable chipset, and extended software support at a starting price of ₹24,999, OnePlus is targeting young, tech-savvy users and budget-conscious buyers who don’t want to compromise on performance. Its launch alongside the OnePlus Nord 5 and Buds 4 underscores OnePlus’ commitment to delivering a cohesive ecosystem of affordable, high-quality devices.

The OnePlus Nord CE 5 is a well-rounded package that ticks the right boxes for everyday reliability and performance. Whether you’re a gamer, a content creator, or simply looking for a dependable daily driver, this phone offers exceptional value and is poised to shake up the mid-range smartphone scene in 2025.
