Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday inaugurated a newly developed residential complex comprising 368 housing units for government employees at Sempora in Pampore. The project, built at an estimated cost of ₹90.65 crore, is expected to significantly improve housing availability in the Kashmir Valley.
Spread across 23 blocks, the newly constructed quarters have been developed by the Estates Department as part of the administration’s broader push to strengthen public infrastructure and enhance employee welfare.
New Housing Project in Pampore
The residential complex includes a mix of 2BHK and 3BHK flats designed to accommodate families of government employees. Officials said the project has been planned to offer modern living conditions, with essential facilities integrated into the campus.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister toured the premises, inspecting residential units as well as common facilities such as the canteen and mess. Senior officials from the Estates Department briefed him on the design, amenities, and future expansion plans for similar housing projects.
The initiative marks one of the larger government-led housing developments in recent years in the region, aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps.
Addressing Long-Standing Housing Shortages

Also present were Additional Chief Secretary Estates Shaleen Kabra, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr Basharat Qayoom, and Director Estates Ashwini Khajuria, along with engineers and administrative staff involved in the project.
